Beginners Course FAQ

Kickboxing can be an excellent way to get a whole body workout, whether you’re easing back into working out, hitting the gym for the first time, or just looking for a change to your workout. It is helpful to know what’s involved in a kickboxing class for beginners at Warriors Martial Arts – this means you can get up to speed quickly and make the most of your class time.  As a beginner, you will get the most effective workout and functional fitness because you will begin at a level that appropriate for you — not for the rest of the class. That’s important for beginners, because it means you won’t feel like everyone in the class is a professional while you’re just an amateur. The instructors will help you push yourself so you can feel confident about progressing quickly, but they will make sure you are not feeling overwhelmed!

I have some medical conditions i'm worried about

If you’re concerned about your fitness level, consult your doctor before beginning a new sport, particularly if you have a chronic condition like asthma, diabetes, or obesity.

Kickboxing can be more intense than a normal exercise program. Classes may challenge your body in ways it’s not yet used to, but over time you will build up your fitness and strength.

Are the instructors qualified?

Yes! All the instructors are qualified and have over 30 years experience teaching different styles of martial arts. All our instructors are fully insured, are qualified in first aid and are DBS checked. You are in safe experienced hands.

Do I have to be fit to get started?

In a word no! We have students from all walks of life and many different fitness levels. 

We make sure that we cater to a range of fitness levels from a total beginner to the super-fit athlete. The instructors will make sure that you are comfortable at all times and will gradually increase the intensity as your fitness develops. You can stop and rest at anytime, so don't worry you will be fine.

What do I need to wear?

Clothing shouldn’t be too loose or too restrictive. Most active gear is fine, just leave the baggy sweatshirts at home. A water bottle and towel will also come in handy.

Gloves

You wont need gloves right away but if you have 10oz gloves bring them along, I can get cost price gloves for those who don't have them but YOU don't need them right away.

Do I need to book each week?

Yes you will need to book each week, the system only allows eight days in advance.

How many calories can I burn

At a single kickboxing workout at our classes, most people will burn anything from 500 to 1000 calories, and by working your upper and lower body together, you’re working your metabolism on a much faster rate. Each class lasts about an hour.
